Choosing a base for a sculpture is not always straight forward. The size and material needs to be an integral part and complement to the sculpture.
Putting an item on a pedestal sure does make it more special.

‘Nurturing the world’ glazed ceramic 230x210mm
A few months ago I awoke with this imagine. I sketched it in my journal before it left me. I knew I had to translate it into clay.
Somehow during my dream I felt as if the nurturing was so much, pulling at my chest, extending and elongating, stretching my breast. My subconscious was working through that my friends were dealing with cancer, breast cancer, chemo, questions, medical mania and all the hardship that goes with it. As nurturers we sometimes feel an overwhelm of duties - raising, loving, caring, feeding, supporting etc - unsure how to even nurture ourselves.
This is truly an ode and gratitude to the nurturers of this world.
This sculpture is available directly from me. The proceeds go to CANSA. (Certificate provided).

🌕 *Eclipse* 🌑
On this supermoon night, I’m sharing my artwork “Eclipse,” which will be on exhibition @trentgallery, opening Fri October 18. For me it was about redefining what we think needs to be light and knowing that even in the dark, there is a shimmer, a reflection or a spark—a hint of light.

The black fossil-like ceramic pieces come together on the canvas, forming a spine-like floral shape, showing off a glossy glaze that glistens whenever light touches it.

I 💛 the night. Without the night there cannot be day and without the dark there cannot be light.

I love starting many projects as the ideas come, sometimes I am afraid I will forget them…. but honestly I never do, sometimes it just takes a year or two….to finish. Now as winter is over and we head towards December, I have a strong urge and will to focus and finish what I’ve started.
